Charley sleeps soundly the entire way home in his pet carrier.

Charley loves his Sherpa carrier. He feels safe and comfortable in it. I say “In the bag!” and he hops right in and goes right to sleep. He has two sizes. This is the medium, which is good for trips around town and on the subway. It is also good for trips on NJ Transit trains and he is OK in it for a couple of hours. He also has the large size, which is a little bigger and allows him more wiggle room to shift around on longer trips.
This is the roll-up model with mesh sides for more air flow. It has a small zip pocket in the back for a water bottle and small bowl (or other stuff). The strap it comes with isn’t so great, so I use a padded one made for a camera bag. Using a padded strap really makes a difference — it feels much more comfortable and makes the whole thing feel about half the weight.
The medium size bag is only slightly smaller than the large, but the smaller dimensions really seem to make a difference on public transportation and navigating turnstiles and slipping it under or onto a seat. The larger size is manageable, but I find it to be a bit more awkward and it seems to get caught in tight spaces more often.
